Healthy Nutrition Lecture Series with Dr. Judy Rabin
The goal of this workshop is to provide a basic education of food groups and thereby an understanding of how to make healthy choices, especially when planning meals and snacks. Participants are encouraged to maintain a diet diary during this lecture series. Beginning with an introduction to the basic food groups of proteins, fats, carbohydrates, this lecture emphasizes the protein group. Topics include the proper quantities and good quality choices of meats, fish, eggs, dairy, and nuts. Proteins are the essential building blocks of all our body’s tissues.
Fats: A thorough and easy to understand explanation of dietary fats, with an emphasis on the difference between essential heart healthy fats and ones that should be avoided. Among other important roles, fats are the building blocks for all cells and hormones. Carbohydrates, also known as starches, are the fuel for our activities of daily living. Balanced blood sugar depends on healthy choices such as fruits, vegetables, and legumes. Avoiding refined high glycemic foods helps prevent diabetes and weight gain. Non-starchy vegetables are full of vitamins, minerals and fiber and should make up the bulk of a meal. This group can be steamed, sauteed, or served as a salad.
This lecture pulls all the food groups together with some examples of delicious and nutritious meals and snacks.

Stress Management using Guided Relaxation with Tiffany Jackson, ND
Learn how easy it is to relax and meditate. Experience a journey throughout your body to relieve stress, tension, anxiety, expression and much more! Learn how to become aware of your personal stress threshold and ability to prioritize your daily schedule - always allowing personal "time out". This workshops provides four sessions focusing on relaxation exercises, breath work and body/mind awareness. Relaxing guided meditations encourage clarity of mind and goal/project manifestation. Regular relaxation sessions are conducted each week to encourage staff to incorporate into their daily life. (Maximum of 20 employees/session)
